Dear Frontier Parents/Guardians,

Welcome aboard to our new 6th grade Warriors, and welcome back to our upperclassmen! We are looking forward to a great 2017/2018 school year here at FMS. As we approach the beginning of the new school year, we’ve put together a few informational items, as well as some important dates for you to jot down on your calendar. The office is now open, 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. daily, and we are available to meet with you if there are questions. Please contact Mrs. Root at extension 2240 to schedule an appointment with the administration.

Registration is scheduled for Thursday, August 17th, and Friday, August 18th in the Gym.

Times are as follows:
10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. on Thursday
10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. only on Friday.

As usual, you’ll be able to pay the ASB fee, purchase yearbooks, student insurance, Warrior Gear, PE Uniform, as well as take pictures; we accept cash, check, or debit card. You will also be able to make any changes to your address, phone numbers, and we strongly encourage all families to ensure that an up to date viable email address is on file for your student as many communications are done electronically with families. You will also be able to pick up your student’s schedule, pay for lunches, and sign up for sports. We will have a bank of computers set up for your use in order to sign your student up on FamilyID (the online sports eligibility website); which is mandatory for all students participating in sports in Moses Lake School District. Our Athletic Director, Scott Carr, will also be available to assist you with sign up. If you have a returning athlete, and you are already familiar with the program, you are more than welcome to take care of the sign up on your home computer, on your own time.

6th Grade Orientation will be held on Tuesday, August 29th, from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon. All incoming 6th-grade students are encouraged to attend. Students will tour the school, practice opening their lockers, meet staff, and participate in various other fun activities designed to help them feel comfortable coming to middle school. Buses will run for pick up and return of students; to find out what bus your child would ride, and pick up times, please contact the Transportation Dept. @ 766-2676. You are free to transport your student to and from if you prefer.

As with each year, we look at areas for improvement; one area we are wanting to work with parents on is the student
pick up and drop off area at Frontier Middle School. All students that are being dropped off and picked up from school by family should use the parking lot located on the West side of the building (by Lions Field). If you are dropping or picking up a student after school is in session please use the parking spots located at the front of the building so that you can have easy access to the front office to check in your student. This area was brought to our attention in working with our local law enforcement, as the loop at the front of the building was congested creating a potential safety hazard, should we ever need to allow response vehicles to enter the area.
